GREEN SERVICES FOR SUSTAINABLE FUTURES: HOW THE SERVICE SECTOR CAN DRIVE THE GREEN ECONOMY IN EMERGING ECONOMIES
Main Article Content
Abstract
The green economy is no longer just about clean energy or recycling—it’s also about how we deliver services in ways that protect the planet and improve people’s lives. While industries like manufacturing often take center stage in environmental discussions, the service sector—which includes tourism, finance, education, logistics, and digital platforms—holds enormous but underused potential to support sustainability. This paper explores how green services can be developed, scaled, and integrated into national green economy strategies, with a focus on countries like Uzbekistan that are actively transitioning toward sustainability. Using real-world examples and policy analysis, the study shows that green services can create jobs, reduce emissions, and promote social inclusion—all without heavy infrastructure or pollution. The paper uses a clear, non-technical language to explain key concepts and offers practical steps for policymakers, educators, entrepreneurs, and citizens. By reimagining everyday services through a green lens, emerging economies can build cleaner, fairer, and more resilient futures.
